Carbon Project Planning & Design

A carbon project refers to a business initiative to cut the emissions of GHG by employment of clean technologies. For carbon project looking for fundings, it must establish and document the additionality of the project - that the carbon project would not have otherwise occurred in a project design document (PDD) and/or activity reports.

Greenfield is competent in preparing such documents and reports, and is also experienced in trading credits generated by the proposed carbon projects, known as carbon credits. Greenfield carbon project service includes:

  • carbon project planning and feasibility assessment,
  • baseline identification and baseline emission calculation,
  • monitor plan development and monitor report preparation,
  • validation and verification support,
  • emission trading support (e.g., LoA application under CDM, KYC),
  • project sourcing (e.g., auction/bidding support, and technical/carbon due dilligence),
  • methodology development.

  • Kyoto Mechanisms: Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)
  • Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS)
  • Climate, Community and Biodiversity (CCB) Project Design Standards
  • Gold Standard for CDM and voluntary market
  • Chinese carbon standard: Panda Standard
  • Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX)
  • Requirements of World Commission on Dams (WCD)

  • Alternative energies (e.g., wind power, solar power, hydroelectric power, biofuel and biomass)
  • Methane collection and combustion (e.g., methane generated by farm animals, landfills or other industrial waste)
  • Energy efficiency (e.g., cogeneration, fuel efficiency, energy-efficient buildings)
  • Destruction of industrial pollutants (e.g., HFCs, N2O and PFCs)
  • Land use, land-use change and forestry (e.g., soil management, reforestation, afforestation, and avoided deforestation)
  • Transportation (e.g., urban rapid transit, marine, and aviation)
  • Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)
